New steps with the InClujiune project

The first working group with the representatives of francophone medical students took place a few days ago and its main focus was to connect foreign students with the local community. In the future, we aim to work weekly with students from the group of mentors in order to find the right mechanisms.

Oceane Coudrieu (from St. Martin) et Yohan Joseph (from Martinique) are part of Alliance des Étudiants d’Outre-mer, a group of francophone students who wish to promote the cultures they come from, by organising cultural and community events. They come from different places, such as Guadeloupe, Martinique, French Guyana and others, their common background being the French language.

The University of Medicine and Pharmacy welcomes an increasing number of foreign students every year. Thus, Cluj becomes their “home” for at least 6 years. That is why, these students want to become part of the community, to connect with other people and to bring a little bit of their original home. That is why they created an official association and they are now working on an application allowing them to finance the organisation of cultural events specific to their countries. The students from the mentorship programme will help with translations, filling in documents and coming up with ideas.

Another topic of discussions were the freshmen the mentors already met, many of them are students at the Faculty of Letters and are happy to be helped but they are also interested in what the city has to offer from a cultural point of view. The mentors are preparing another round of presentations to promote the mentorship programme.
