Cluj Cultural Centre organises within Cluj Days, a series of events dedicated to the Roma culture. The Roma Culture Days are part of the Jivipen project and take place between September 27th and 29th, 2019.
This year’s edition mainly focuses on theatre creations, bringing to the fore recent production which raise issues which are still sensitive for the Romanian society. Prejudice and discrimination, which are intensely evoked both in the shows played and through the events of Forum Theatre, are also discussed within a public debate, whose guests are Csaba Asztalos, president of the National Council for the Fight against Discrimination, Roma artists and activists. If the redefinition of the relationship between the Roma minority and the majority culture is at stake, this cannot happen unless we raise awareness about structural racism and we empower the Roma communities and their artistic expression.
The curators of the programme of the event are Alexandru Petru Fechete and Selma Dragoș.
In each of the three days, children and parents are invited in the Central Park, to listen to the interpretation of Roma fairy tales and to participate in this interpretation together with the actors. The fairy tales were collected by Alina Șerban, within the project Untold stories: www.povestinespuse.eu
The programme also includes three theatre performances which approach sensitive aspects of the relationships between Roma and non-Roma, through an exceptional performative discourse:

„Vi me som rom”, project initiated by the actor Andrei Șerban, Casa Tranzit
Each day, the programme will be completed by events by the Forum Theatres with actors Carol Herțeg, Maria Stoica and Lucian Rad. Through this format, the audience attends, debates and looks for personal solutions to problematic issues which they encounter daily, but of which they might not have been consciously aware.
