CLUJ FUTURE OF WORK CONFERENCE

How is Cluj-Napoca preparing for the reality of the labour market in 2040, from a cultural and social perspective?

On December 5th, between 9:30 and 17:00, at Casino Urban Culture Centre in Cluj-Napoca we will seek the answers to this question.

The way in which we will work and contribute to the quality of life in Cluj-Napoca 20 years from now is the main concern of Cluj Future of Work (FoW), an ambitious project financed by the European Commission through its research and development programme Urban Innovative Actions in Cluj-Napoca.

Cluj Future of Work studies and tests 3 scenarios connecting different actors, through which the city can prepare for the challenges the future will bring on the labour market. On December 5th, 2019, during the FoW conference, we will present the first results of the project, providing details on each of the three scenarios imagined:

  • The Culturepreneurs scenario explores the way in which cultural and creative industries can be supported in the future through technology and acceleration programmes.
  • The Informal Work scenario analyses who is excluded now from the labour market and why and together with the citizens of the city interested in this topic we envisage the changes for the future.
  • The Work 4.0 scenario questions which technologies are necessary to support the professional reskilling and the way in which we can capacitate companies to proactively engage in workers’ reskilling in order to prepare for the realities of the economy of the future.

The debates will include the partners of the project Cluj Future of Work and international specialists in urban innovation. Through this event, we also wish to connect with people interested in urban innovation and the future of work.

The attendance to this event is free and is done exclusively through registration.

ABOUT CLUJ FUTURE OF WORK

The project is studying and testing the opportunities of the city to prepare for the challenges of the labour market, which the future will bring. Cluj Future of Work mainly focuses on cultural and social issues: what jobs can be developed in the cultural and creative sectors, what will happen in the sectors with automation risk, what will happen in the sectors where there already are difficulties of integration on the labour market.

Cluj Future of Work is a project initiated by the Division of Urban Innovation in Cluj-Napoca, created by the Cluj Cultural Centre in partnership with the Innovation and Civic Imagination Centre of the municipality of Cluj-Napoca.

Cluj Future of Work was realised in co-management by the municipality of Cluj-Napoca and the Cluj Cultural Centre, in a consortium with other eight local organisations: the Association for Intercommunity Development of Cluj Metropolitan Area, Transylvania Creative Industries Cluster, Transylvanian Furniture Cluster, Cluj IT Cluster, Transylvania IT Cluster, Transylvania International Film Festival, the University of Art and Design of Cluj-Napoca and ZAIN, Transylvania Creativity Festival.
