The intercultural summer school is a Cluj Cultural Centre initiative, which wants to offer children from Pata-Rât the opportunity to participate, during the summer, in creative, recreational and educational activities in a natural and friendly environment. It stems from the need of mutual understanding between the majority and the minority communities.
This year’s edition of the intercultural summer school involves a group of 20 children from “Traian Dârjan” Gymnasium School, who will participate for a week in the activities and workshops that will take place in Telciu, a Transylvanian village.
Emphasizing the intercultural element of our approach, the trainers (Lucian Rad, Vasile Mate and Gelu Vlașin) will involve children in creative writing workshops and learning through play and will propose activities to develop different skills or abilities, from hiking and campfires to clay modeling. The emphasis will be on the idea of interacting with other children and young people in the village.
This is the second edition of the intercultural summer school, as the first edition took place in 2019 in the same village (Telciu), where the Center for the Study of Modernity and the Rural World has initiated an innovative educational approach – Telciu Summer School.
Part of our Jivipen project, “Intercultural Summer School” is implemented with the support of the French Embassy in Romania / French Institute in Romania and in partnership with “Diverbium” European Center for Cultural Excellence, “Traian Dârjan” High School and Telciu City Hall.
