Artists Together Exhibition at TIFF 2020

Between August 1-9, 2020, a selection of works made for the Artists Together movement will be exhibited for the first time in the offline environment, at the Art Museum in Cluj-Napoca. The exhibition is organized within the Transilvania International Film Festival.

The Cluj Cultural Centre, together with the Romanian Health Observatory, launched a national project from the first days of the crisis period caused by the Covid-19 pandemic in Romania: the project called Artists Together – which involved Romanian artists in the fight against the pandemic. The mission of this movement is to engage art and artists in the effort to inform and raise public awareness in Romania on important topics of this period.

\”The movement received a real interest in the arts environment – in just four days over 450 artists submitted proposals for works, 45 of which were selected. As the intention of the movement was also to offer a minimum of support to independent artists strongly affected financially by this crisis, the selected artists received 300 Euros each for their work\”, says Corina Bucea, project manager.

The works presented in the exhibition were created as an immediate response to the current pandemic context and are guided by the three themes launched by the Artists Together movement: #together, #responsibility, #heroes. The movement is also a manifesto of the role of art and artists in articulating messages that are relevant to contemporary society.

The artistiimpreuna.ro platform contains all the works produced within the movement – illustration, video, photography, text or audio works. The TIFF exhibition is the first opportunity to exhibit a selection of works in a physical space.
