Inner Space is a program that explores and promotes the potential of culture to improve health and well-being.
Artists, scientists, experts in the field of health and psychology collaborate to bring to public attention the dangers that threaten our emotional, mental and physical health today.
Our approach is to pilot and then scale cultural and artistic interventions that aim to enhance individual and collective health and well-being. We also organize an annual think tank and international forum.
We are active in research and advocacy initiatives at local and European level to promote art, cultural participation and cultural interventions as accessible and effective forms of prevention and support in the management of health problems, together with partners such as the World Health Organization, Culture Action Europe, Nordic Dimension Partnership on Culture, Trans Europe Halles, Central Denmark Region.
CultureForHealth
The project aimed to generate changes at the level of public policies in the European Union, by integrating health policies with cultural and social ones. Through a series of roundtables and study visits, seminars, workshops and conferences, CultureForHealth facilitated cross-sectoral and trans-European cooperation, aiming to generate knowledge and compile public policies on art for health and well-being.
CARE: Culture for Mental Health
Building on the legacy of the Art&Well-being and CultureForHealth projects, CARE fosters cross-sector collaboration between cultural, health, social, business and education sectors and promotes cultural participation as a way to increase mental health and well-being of individuals and communities. CARE aims to provide both structural and individual solutions by integrating arts and culture into other sectors in order to enhance mental health and well-being across Europe. The project also works to strengthen skills in the cultural and other sectors, set up arts and health innovation labs, and share the benefits of cultural approaches to mental well-being at the European, national and local level.
CultureAndHealth Platform
Led by Culture Action Europe, the CultureAndHealth Platform is a four-year transformative initiative designed to support over 200 European emerging artists working at the intersection of culture, health, care, education and social sectors. By providing grants, mobility and networking opportunities and visibility of their work, the initiative aims to highlight the vital role of culture in fostering health, well-being and social innovation across Europe.
