Inner Space is an interdisciplinary project addressing the relation between culture and psychological well-being. Artists, scientists, health and psychology experts work together to raise awareness on the dangers that today threaten our mental and emotional health, both at individual and community level. We work together to explore and experience how art and cultural participation can contribute to the inner well-being of the city’s inhabitants.
We aim that the city of Cluj-Napoca becomes one of the first European cities to include psychological well-being among the strategic factors for its sustainable development and an important centre of expertise in art and well-being in Central and Eastern Europe.
In 2018, the Inner Space establishes a think tank consisting of artists, psychologists and doctors from Cluj and abroad. The group of experts defines the conceptual and scientific framework for the project and sets the priority themes for the cultural interventions that we will experiment with in the next years.
We also develop a local network of organizations, institutions and universities from the field of culture and public health to actively engage in promoting well-being in the city of Cluj-Napoca, focusing on both inner and public spaces.
We are currently developing two pilot actions in partnership with Cluj County Clinical Emergency Hospital: an artist-in-residence project taking place in the emergency unit of the hospital and a project to design an experimental space for regeneration through art dedicated to resident physicians.
Call for artists at the first artistic residence in the Emergency Hospital in Cluj.
