BETTER CITIES: How can we contribute to increasing the quality of life and well-being of the inhabitants of Cluj, capitalizing on the potential of art and culture?
3 December 2019 | Centrul Interdisciplinar pentru Știința Datelor, Avram Iancu Street, no. 68, 5th floor
On the basis of growing and consistent evidence on the positive effects of arts on health and well-being, Cluj Cultural Centre continues to create frameworks for productive conversations between artists, cultural workers, scientists, psycologists, health professionals and city planners, looking for culture-inspired perspectives on „better cities”. What are the key emotional, mental and health challanges of contemporary urban dwelling? How can arts and cultural participation be part of the solution to these challanges? What type of interdisciplinary programmes and policies have the potential to increase the quality of life and well-being of people living in cities?
The Art&Well-being Think Thank, following last years’ Culture and Well-being Forum, take part within Inner Space, the Centre’s project exploring the relation between culture and well-being. Inner Space works to establish a Culture and Well-being Think Tank, an expert group to support both cultural organisations and public authorities in their effort to deliver art interventions and opportunities for cultural participation to improve health and well-being of individuals and communities. Inner Space pilots such interventions and actively engages in promoting well-being in the city of Cluj-Napoca, focusing on both inner and public spaces.
