LUMEN: educational kits

Cluj Cultural Centre, in partnership with Scientifica, proposes the Lumen project, which aims to contribute to the civic spirit development and and to the young people’s involvement in issues that affect the whole community, such as energy consumption and its effect on society and climate change.

By the end of December 2021, 57 high school students from Cluj, studying in \”Tiberiu Popoviciu\” Informatics High School and \”Emil Racovită\” National College, will participate in a series of online workshops to look for answers to current questions and societal concerns, such as: Why is it important to understand energy and energy sources? Is renewable energy useful? Will we be able to find lasting solutions to the significant challenges of the 21st century?

Students will be able to carry out practical experiments, use scientific research methods to investigate topics of interest to them and provide feedback on the proposed activities. This is meant to be a constructive process that will aim at prototyping educational kits suitable for interactive education and relevant for the current problems of the society.

This type of interaction will be refined and then developed within a resource center for STEAM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) that Cluj Cultural Centre will launch in Cluj-Napoca at the beginning of 2021.

Scientifica is an interdisciplinary organization that develops forms of alternative education at the intersection of science, art and design. Scientifica projects address current issues and encourage audiences of all ages to experiment and explore.

The project is implemented with the support of the French Embassy in Romania / French Institute.
